Import Markdown files

Bring in .md notes — one file, a folder such as an Obsidian vault, or a zip — and review them before they are saved.

You can import Markdown notes from anywhere that keeps them as .md files — Obsidian, a docs folder in a repository, or the zip DigiPages gives you from Download everything. The files are read in your browser, and nothing is saved until you have reviewed them and chosen Import. An import only adds pages: it never changes or replaces one you already have.

  1. Choose Import Markdown… from the ••• menu at the top of the page list.

It is the button after new folder and new page, just under the word PAGES.

  2. Pick your notes.

Choose Markdown files for one or more notes, Choose a folder for a whole vault or directory, or Choose a zip. You can also drop any of them on the box.

  3. Review the list, then press Import.

Every page has a checkbox, and pages that look like ones you already have are flagged exactly as in a Notion import.

Fenced code blocksCode blocks in the same language, with a title="…" kept as the block's title.
$…$ and $$…$$Inline and block equations.
A quote starting with an emoji, or > [!NOTE]A callout.
<details> and <mark>A toggle list, and highlighted text.
Images and files the note links toUploaded to your account, if they are inside what you picked.
Links to other notes, including Obsidian's [[Note]]Links to the imported pages.
  • Images on the web stay links; nothing is downloaded from another site.
  • A link to a note or file that was not in what you picked keeps its text and loses the link.
  • Front matter other than the title is not imported.

Images and files count toward your storage — 100 MB on every account unless you have been given more — and the review shows the total before you import. Everything new lands in one folder named Imported from Markdown, followed by the date.
