The / menu: every block you can insert
Type / on an empty line to insert any kind of block, and filter the list as you type.
The / menu is the fastest route to every block type. Type a forward slash at the start of an empty line — or after a space — and the list appears. Keep typing to filter it, then press Enter, or click the one you want.
The trigger only fires at the start of a line or after a space. Typing a slash in the middle of a word is just a slash, which is what you want when you are writing a path or a fraction.
You do not have to know the exact name. Each command answers to several, so “snippet” finds the code block and “todo” finds the to-do list.

Two entries in that list are not blocks. Inline equation puts a formula inside the line you are writing rather than on its own; Dictate starts speech-to-text at the caret, and is offered only where there is a pointer — on a phone or tablet, use the microphone on the keyboard instead.
A filter has to match one word. “side by side” finds 2 columns because it is stored as one alias, but the menu closes at the first space you type, so search for “side” rather than the whole phrase.
